For over 16 years, we have empowered parents, students, educators and community advocates through information about public school reform, and knowledge of effective methods of family engagement in schools. We have educated 4,500 people through our classes, mostly Newark residents.

ALI develops informed parent advocacy and stakeholder engagement on the Rutgers Newark campus through carefully planned classes that attract more than 150 participants in a series of six classes per semester.

ALI DEVELOPS LEADERS! ALI parent participants are among the most actively engaged parents in Newark.
ALI offers classes on Saturdays and at the request of parents and parent organizations,
to help increase parent impact in schools.
96% of our Saturday class participants say that ALI has increased their leadership skills.
ALI parents are parent organization leaders across the district schools.
Their advocacy has led to positive changes at the school, district, and state level.
